It became a state in 1907, from the very beginning in 1908 Oklahoma government started  numbering system for its initiatives and its 1st successful initiative was Oklahoma initiative 7 (1910) which was displayed in 11th June 1910 special election by proposing two most important questions:

  • Shall permanent state capital to be established?
  • If yes then options were Guthrie/Oklahoma/Shawnee

People chose Oklahoma, initiative was passed and Oklahoma City became Capital. After becoming state many new initiatives were passed like Oklahoma Initiative 10 for literacy test required as a qualification for voting, while Oklahoma Initiative 11 rejected as it was demanding for liquor sales to be allowed.
