The amount of oil used by a ship traveling at a uniform speed varies jointly with the distance and the square of the speed. the

ship uses 30 barrels of oil in traveling 85 miles at 42 mi/h. how many barrels of oil are used when the ship travels 26 miles at 54 mi/h? round your answer to the nearest tenth of a barrel, if necessary.

A = kdv^2    where A = amount oil d = distance and v = speed and k is a constant
so
30 = k*85*42^2
Now solve for k:-
k = 30 / (85*42^2) =     0.00020008

So when d = 26 and v = 54

Amount of oil A = 0.00020008 * 26*54^2
                          =  15.2 barrels

Answer:

Only B and C are always true.

Step-by-step explanation:

To analyse which statements are always true, we go through the process of finding confidence intervals for sample means, from the start.

Confidence Interval = (Sample mean) ± (Margin of error)

From this expression, it is evident that the margin of error determines how wide the confidence interval would be.

Sample Mean = 110 (given)

Margin of Error = (Critical value) × (Standard deviation of the distribution of sample means)

Since no information about the population standard deviation is provided, the critical value is obtained using t-distribution.

The critical value usually varies at different confidence levels and degree of freedoms.

The higher the confidence level, the higher the critical value and the higher the margin of error leading to a wider range.

Hence, a confidence interval of 95% will have a higher critical value than a confidence interval of 90%. Hence, statement C is proved once that 'for n = 100, the 95% confidence interval will be wider than the 90% confidence interval'.

After obtaining the critical value, we then obtain the standard deviation of the distribution of sample means or simply the standard error of the mean. This is given as

σₓ = σ/√n

where σ = standard deviation; which isn't given. The standard deviation might be high enough to guarantee that the Margin of error is high too for the confidence interval to contain 115 or low enough to ensure that the Margin of error is very small and the confidence interval will not contain 115.

Or the sample size might be high enough to make the standard error of the mean to be eventually small and lead to a small margin of error and the condidence interval will not contain 115.

The point is, it isn't always sure that the resulting interval.would contain 115. So, statement A isn't always true.

Then from σₓ = σ/√n,

n = sample size, a large sample size means a more narrow confidence interval and a small sample size means a wider sample size. This proves statement C.

The 95% confidence interval for n = 100 will be more narrow than the 95% confidence interval for n = 50.

Hence, Only B and C are always true.

Hope this Helps!!!

Henry was buying meals for his family. He bought 3 meals that included a chicken, corn, and a drink and spent a total of $20.25.
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

The price of each meal cost before tax is $ 6.367

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The total price of three meals = $ 20.25

The sales tax included in the total price = 6 %

So, Let the cost of meal before sales tax = x

Or, x + 6 % of x = $ 20.25

or, x + 0.06 x = $ 20.25

Or, 1.06 x = $ 20.25

∴  x = \frac{20.25}{1.06}

I.e x = $ 19.10

Or, price of three meals before tax = $ 19.10

so, The price of each meal = \frac{19.10}{3} = $ 6.367

Hence The price of each meal cost before tax is $ 6.367 answer

irinina [24]
Given:
tan(B/2) = sec(B) / (sec(B) * csc(B) + csc(B))

Apply the half angle formula to convert tan(B/2) to terms of B:
sin(B) / (1+cos(B)) = sec(B) / (sec(B) * csc(B) + csc(B))

Convert everything else to be in terms of sin and cos:
sin(B) / (1+cos(B) = (1/cos(B)) / ((1/cos(B)) * (1/sin(B)) + (1/sin(B)))

Multiply right side by "sin(B)/sin(B)" to simplify the fractions:
sin(B) / (1+cos(B) = (sin(B)/cos(B)) / ((1/cos(B)) + 1)

Change "1" to cos(B)/cos(B) and then combine over
common denominator:
sin(B) / (1+cos(B) = (sin(B)/cos(B)) / ((1/cos(B)) + cos(B)/cos(B))
sin(B) / (1+cos(B) = (sin(B)/cos(B)) / ((1+cos(B))/cos(B))

Dividing by a fraction equals multiplying by its reciprocal:
sin(B) / (1+cos(B) = (sin(B)/cos(B)) * (cos(B) / (1+cos(B)))

Multiply terms on the right side (canceling cos(B) terms):
sin(B) / (1+cos(B) = sin(B) / (1+cos(B))
