Patricians are not only the ruling class, but also the high-officials of ancient Rome. Initially, only they could be elected to the Senate and hold the office of priests. Religious rites and ceremonies were also special rights of the Patidars. Chiefs and judges were elected from among them. Much later, when the number of patriot clans was greatly reduced, the rulers of Rome had to be given the opportunity to manage the empire and the representatives of the lower classes to participate.
