It started when Augustus Caesar was Emperor (ruler) of the Roman Empire. The main good things that happened in this time were: There were not many wars. Pax Romana which is Latin for "Roman Peace" was a time, as the name suggests, a long period of peace and minimal military expansion from 27 BC to about 180 AD. The main importance was that all of the land surrounding the Mediterranean was at peace because everyone was under Roman Law.
