The first thought the reader might have is "The third act will be about old age and death". However, the third act turns out to be about death (early death, in the case of Emily and her second child) and afterlife, or, to be more precise, about how unaware we are about all the things in life that we should appreciate but usually take for granted; we do not stop to really see each other, as though we had all the time in the world ahead of us to do so, without ever realizing how fleeting the precious things in life are and how little time we have for being together.
