Why are contracted workers often a more

attractive alternative for employers?
Rashid [163]

Contracted workers have a particular term to be served and cannot leave before that and for fixed price and company does not have to give any social security or compensation to these workers.

Explanation:

Contracted workers are those employees who work in a company for a particular period of time and the salary of the employees is also fixed in the case of the contracted employees.

The employers are not liable to pay for any social security to these workers and the compensation of the workers are also not to be paid by the employers to these contracted workers. This proves to be an advantage for the companies they prefer these contracted employees.

Which policy or initiative contributed most to the nuclear arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union
nika2105 [10]

The policy contributed most to the nuclear arms race was Mutual Assured Destruction

This means that both sides knew that any attack upon the other would be devastating to themselves, therefore restraining them from attacking the other. Each side possesses enough nuclear weapons to obliterate the other side that causes them to restrain from attacking afraid of the annihilation.

How might the cold war have progressed if the u-2 incident had never occurred?
zvonat [6]
Without U-2, Eisenhower would have met with Kruschev, and they might have come to a positive resolution on the issue of Cuba.

With Cuba resolved, Eisenhower would not have needed to launch the Bay of Pigs invasion; Castro bringing in missiles was a direct reaction to the Bay of Pigs. No Bay of Pigs, no Cuban Missile Crisis.

Without the Cuban Missile Crisis, tensions between the US and USSR would have been reduced. Still there obviously, but reduced. It is likely Kennedy could have come to an agreement to significantly slow, if not end, the arms race with the USSR.

And if Cuba and nuclear weapons were on a lower simmer, the US might have been less likely to stay in Vietnam. Both Yarmolinsky and McNamara had misgivings as early as 1963 about Vietnam. If the Cold War was cooler, they might have been able to keep that fire out.

It's possible the Cold War could have taken an entirely different turn if not for one airplane being shot down.
