Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

The value of a digit due to its position in a number is called as place value.

For example, there's a number

23450

2 is in ten thousands place and it has a place value of 20,000

3 is in thousands place and it has a place value of 3000

4 is in hundreds place and it has a place value of 400

5 is in tens place and has a place value of 50

0 is in unit or ones place and has a value of 0

When we divide the number by 10, we move every digit from its current place value to the right.

23450 divided by 10 = 2345

Now,

2 is in thousands place and it has a place value of 2,000

3 is in hundreds place and it has a place value of 300

4 is in tens place and it has a place value of 40

5 is in unit or ones place and has a place value of 5

A school has a goal of getting at least 2000 boxtops. They have 872 so far. They have 8 days left to get it. At least how many d
True [87]

Answer:

School needs to collect at least 144 box tops each day to meet their goal.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total requirement of box tops = 2,000

The number of box tops they have already received = 872

So, the box tops left = Total number required- Number of tops received

                                  =2,000 - 872

                                   = 1,128 box tops are left so far.

Number of days left = 8

So, number of minimum tops needed each day = \frac{\textrm{Total tops required}}{\textrm{Number of days left}}

                                                = \frac{1128}{8} = 141

Hence, they need to collect at least 144 box tops each day to meet their goal.

A person stands 10 meters east of an intersection and watches a car driving towards the intersection from the north at 13 meters
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

Therefore the rate change of distance between the car and the person at the instant, the car is 24 m from the intersection is 12 m/s.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

A person stand 10 meters east of an intersection and watches a car driving towards the intersection from the north at 13 m/s.

From Pythagorean Theorem,

(The distance between car and person)²= (The distance of the car from intersection)²+ (The distance of the person from intersection)²+

Assume that the distance of the car from the intersection and from the person be x and y at any time t respectively.

∴y²= x²+10²

\Rightarrow y=\sqrt{x^2+100}

Differentiating with respect to t

\frac{dy}{dt}=\frac{1}{2\sqrt{x^2+100}}. 2x\frac{dx}{dt}

\Rightarrow \frac{dy}{dt}=\frac{x}{\sqrt{x^2+100}}. \frac{dx}{dt}

Since the car driving towards the intersection at 13 m/s.

so,\frac{dx}{dt}=-13

\therefore \frac{dy}{dt}=\frac{x}{\sqrt{x^2+100}}.(-13)

Now

\therefore \frac{dy}{dt}|_{x=24}=\frac{24}{\sqrt{24^2+100}}.(-13)

               =\frac{24\times (-13)}{\sqrt{676}}

               =\frac{24\times (-13)}{26}

               = -12 m/s

Negative sign denotes the distance between the car and the person decrease.

Therefore the rate change of distance between the car and the person at the instant, the car is 24 m from the intersection is 12 m/s.

mary purchased 3 1/2 pounds of bananas. If the loaf of banana bread requires 3/4 pounds of bananas, how many loaves of banana br
nikklg [1K]
For this one a simple way that you can think of it is that 1 pound of banana is equivalent to 100, 3/4 pounds of banana is 75, 1/2 pounds of banana is 50, etc.

3 1/2 pounds of banana = 350

3/4 pounds of banana = 75

If i want to find out how many loafs of banana bread I can make if ONE loaf requires 3/4 pounds of banana, and i have 3 1/2 pounds of banana then I divide:

350 / 75 = 4.66

So, with 3 1/2 pounds of bananas you can successfully create 4 loafs of banana bread. the remaining .66 is not enough banana to make another loaf.

A rectangle has a perimeter of 30 inches if the width is 3 times it’s length find it dimension
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

Length = 11.25 and width = 3.75 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

You must mean that the length is 3 times its width.

If the the width is x then the length is 3x inches.

Perimeter = 2*length + 2*width.

2(3x) + 2x = 30

6x + 2x = 30

8x = 30

x = 3.75.

3x = 11.25.
