Apply the Pythagorean Theorem.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2
The largest side is always C.
so 8^2 + 15^2 = 17^2
64 + 225 = 289

The equation true is so it is a right triangle

Remember that for a triangle to be right, it has to follow the Pythagorus theorem. a^2 + b^2 = c^2

so 8^2 + 15^2 = 17^2

if this doesn't equal to each other, it can't be a right triangle.

but it does so it is a right triangle

a. No, simply because 20 isn't divisible by 3 without having a decimal, and there must be a whole number because there's no such thing as half of a species.

A rectangular pool has a length of 60 feet and a width of the square root of 18 feet.
Vsevolod [243]

a).  Area = (length) (width)

               = (60 ft) (√18 ft)

               =     (60 √18)  ft²

               =     60 √(9 · 2)   ft²

               =     60 (3) √2      ft²

               =   180 √2           ft²     (about  254.6 ft²)

b).  Volume  =  (length) (width) (height)

                    =  (60 ft) (√18   ft) (√10   ft)

                    =        60 √(180)         ft³

                    =        60  √(4 · 9 · 5)          ft³

                    =        60 (2) (3) √5             ft³

                    =       360 √5         ft³        (about  805 ft³)

arlik [135]
Well you add 1/2  + 1/2 = 1 in
(1/2+1/2) + (1/2+1/2) + (1/2+1/2) + (1/2+1/2) + (1/2+1/2) + 1/2=
2 half inches per parentheses pairs which is 5 plus the 1/2 inch
