Why are dashes, rather than parentheses or commas, used in this sentence?

Dashes are used instead of parentheses or commas in the sentence because of the following reasons:
-Parentheses are used to set off a participle word or words which can be omitted, but does not affect the whole thought of the sentence. In addition, parentheses could also be used to add a specific detail about the word beside it.
-Dashes, just like parentheses, are used to set additional information off. Dashes are commonly used if the words it enclosed already has a comma or commas in it, just to avoid confusion. In addition, dashes are more appropriate to use for interrupted sentences.

A. Parentheses are being used because they set off longer, less-related parenthetical asides.

Good luck on the rest! xx

Licemer1 [7]

Answer:

b. His tolerance of racial and religious differences.

Explanation:

Roger Williams was a theologian, author and Puritan minister who staunchly support the issues relating to freedom of religion. He also advocated for the separation of the state and church, fair dealing of cases regarding American Indians and was himself one of the very first abolitionists.

Roger Williams established the Providence Plantations, later known as the Colony of Rhode Island. He also founded the first Baptist Church in America in 1638. He had migrated to America for he felt that the Church of England from which all power lies, is not a just way of governing any nation. So, he started advocating for the wrongs in the world, especially about the separation of the powers and duties of the church and the state and the statuses of American Indians and the Blacks/ slaves in America.

**I WILL MAKE SURE ANYONE WHO ANSWERS ALL THE QUESTIONS GETS 50 POINTS** **journalism**
nlexa [21]

Answer:

1. Yes, I do believe that people who read newspapers watch local news. I think that local news might be more appealing to some people, because sometimes it's easier to get your point across just by talking to someone.

2. I do think a kicker would be as effective because your audience is paying more attention. It won't warm your audience up as much, but they'll be paying attention more. If you put a kicker in the middle, it can also break up the monotony.

Explanation:

I don't know a lot about journaling, so these are the only things I can answer. Sorry about that, and good luck!
