Why are dashes, rather than parentheses or commas, used in this sentence?

English

Dashes are used instead of parentheses or commas in the sentence because of the following reasons:
-Parentheses are used to set off a participle word or words which can be omitted, but does not affect the whole thought of the sentence. In addition, parentheses could also be used to add a specific detail about the word beside it.
-Dashes, just like parentheses, are used to set additional information off. Dashes are commonly used if the words it enclosed already has a comma or commas in it, just to avoid confusion. In addition, dashes are more appropriate to use for interrupted sentences.

A. Parentheses are being used because they set off longer, less-related parenthetical asides.

Good luck on the rest! xx

Which line from "Helen Grey" implies that the author thinks physical beauty is not the most valuable quality? (4 points)
MrMuchimi

Answer: C) But so you miss that modest charm / Which is the surest charm of all

Explanation:

The poem describes a very beautiful woman with a proud and distasteful character. The author is advising her to be more humble so that people may relate better with her.

In saying that the ''modest charm'' is the ''surest charm of all'', it can be implied that the author thinks that the most valuable and surest quality is modesty which means that it transcends even physical beauty.

Which statement best describes how hyperbole creates humor?
babunello [35]

☁️My Answer☁️:

I believe the correct answer that best describes how a hyperbole creates humor is the last option which is, A character's reaction or feelings are exaggerated to the point they are funny, because a hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim and not meant to be taken literally. So this option would be the best option because it explains what a hyperbole is and how a hyperbole creates humor.
