Britain imposed taxes on the English colonies because they needed the money to get rid of war debts. The debts were growing enormous after the French and Indian war in America. Britain government needed a way to pay the debts. Britishers decided to introduce acts in the colonies as the colonies were part of the British Empire. Taxes included the Stamp Act, Townsend Acts.
Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for reelection every even year. Senators however, serve six-year terms.
