History

As a result of the annexation of Texas and the Mexican-American war the United States gained a large swath of land, what is now the southwest. The Mexican army was soundly defeated by the American forces and their victory was greatly celebrated. However, almost immediately after the war heated debate began on whether or not to extend slavery into these newly acquired territories. These territories had the potential to upset the careful balance between slave states and free states. The country was fractured along both partisan and sectional lines. The resulting compromise of 1850 only managed to delay the crises for another decade. The American acquisition of the southwest not only re-ignited the debate on slavery; it made conflict over it almost inevitable.

How are electric cars changing society?
valina [46]
Electric cars are changing society because they reduce the amount of emissions that contribute to climate change and smog. They also have fewer moving parts than their traditional counterparts, so they need fewer people to assemble them and fewer supply chains for getting the necessary parts. With fewer moving parts, market for spare parts and maintenance will decline.

Select the verb or verbs in the following sentence. Include auxiliary verbs.
icang [17]

Answer: And God said, “Let there be light.”

Explanation:

In the given sentence, we have three verbs, including the auxiliary verb.

Our first verb is said, the past simple tense of the verb to say. Here it refers to the action performed by the subject - God.

The second verb is the auxiliary verb let, here used to form the third person imperative. To show that this indeed is the imperative mood, we could rephrase the sentence like this: I command that there should be light.

The third verb is be, also a part of the imperative mood in this sentence, referring to what light should do.
