Josef Arnost Bergman was a Czech-American Protestant priest. During his studies he joined the Piarist Order, but in 1827 he stepped out of the Catholic Church and became an evangelist. Three years later he became pastor of the Czech choir in Strouzny. In 1833 he got married. In 1848 he went to America, where he became an evangelical preacher. He encouraged many other Czechs to emigrate to America.
