For future reference, a 'cognate' is a term that sounds the same, or very similar, in both Spanish and English. Also, for conjugation questions I would like to direct you to perhaps use SpanishDict.com, where you can view verb conjugations for every tense. I found that it helped me greatly through my Spanish language courses.
