The painting "School of Athens" by the Renaissance painter Raphael is a famous painting depicting a scene from Ancient Greece of a meeting between many different Greek philosophers. These philosophers included Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and Pythagoras—but it also included the painter, Raphael, himself. This reflected the basic principles of the Renaissance, namely the idea that intellegence is what makes a person an elite. The idea that Raphael belongs among the highest of Greece's philosophers is extremely arrogant, but also fits into the Renaissance principle state prior.
