Bonjour

"khat' is a leaf that is a mild-stimulant when chewed.

it is used in some Arabic and African countries to fight against hunger and "fatigue";

It acts as an appetite suppressant as the betel leaves in India or the coca leaves in South America (specially in the Andean Mountains in  Peru, Bolivia, Chile) that  people chew as well to avoid been hungry and tired and also in the Andes against altitude sickness.
