Metafiction is a form of literature that emphasizes its quality of fiction. In other words, the work itself reminds the reader that he or she is reading a work of fiction. Metafiction focuses on its own constructedness, and therefore, it is self-conscious about language, literary form and storytelling. Metafiction is particularly associated with postmodern literature.
