Pertaining to "The Alchemist"- How does the boy influence the life of the crystal merchant? The crystal merchant was content wit

h his life the way it was; the boy encourages the crystal merchant to take a chance and seize an opportunity. While the boy is a servant for the crystal merchant, he teaches the merchant about Andalusia and sheepherding. Because of his interactions with the boy, the crystal merchant decides to sell his shop and pursue his own dreams. The boy teaches the crystal merchant about omens and the Soul of the World; this encourages the merchant to find his Personal Legend.

The boy influences the crystal merchant by following his or her dreams the boy is even teaching him andalusia and sheperding, notice how he also tells the merchant take a chance and seize the opportunity.

I haven't read Fahrenheit 451 in a very long time, but I do remember this part. I think a possible reason as to why the author does this is to start creating conflict and introduce the real turning point of the story, when we find out what the real problem is. Hope this helped.
