What was the major effect of the Great Schism?

History
2 answers:
sineoko [7]3 years ago

The major effect of the Great Schism was the division between what is now the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Churches.

The theological thoughts of the East were different from those of the West. The Eastern theology was based in Greek philosophy, while the Western theology had its roots on Roman Law.

This main difference led to misunderstandings and theological disputes, and at last, the final break came in 1054.

There were attempts of reconciliation but none of them were successful.
