Mesoamerican civilizations had a rich history of ancient cities that nowadays humanity can visit some of those archeological sites, basically in South Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. In those ancient cities, many temples were used for the following purposes: as memorials to powerful former leaders. For instance, we have the world-famous “Castle” pyramid in Chichen Itza, ancient Mayan city one hour from Merida, the capital city of the Mexican state of Yucatan.
