The correct answer is D) scarcity of resources.

The condition that motivated both, Japanese and European imperialism is a scarcity of resources.

Being relatively small countries compared to other nations, Japan, Portugal, France, and Great Britain were looking for more resources for their countries. Scarcity of resources could have been one of the reasons but in reality, power, control, and dominion truly played a key role in expansionism and imperialism.

In the case of European countries, the knew that raw materials and natural resources abound in the African continent. and they wanted some of that for their monarchies. That is why they went on and invaded.

Scarcity of resources. The European countries and Japan didn't have all the resources they needed in order to keep up industrialization and a few other reasons. They resorted to taking over other lands in order the "cheaply" obtain the resources.

In 1991 the Soviet Union collapsed MAINLY because
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer: D

Explanation: Although you could argue it was C. None of these are the real reason why. The main problem was the fact that Democracy was spreading around the world and when Gorbachev established multi-party election systems, and these systems would eventual force him to resign and make several independent states and the country we know as "mother Russia"(glory, greatest country). However, the economy was crippling and the west and east both had better opportunity for the people.

In 100 to 150 words, explain the political changes from Map 1 to Map 2.
ira [324]
The Scramble for Africa refers to the period between roughly 1884 and 1914, when the European colonisers partitioned the – up to that point – largely unexplored African continent into protectorates, colonies and ‘free-trade areas’. At the time the colonisers had limited knowledge of local conditions and their primary consideration was to avoid conflict among themselves for African soil. Since no one could foresee the short-lived colonial era, the border design – which endured the wave of independence in the 1960s – had sizable long-lasting economic and political consequences. The Scramble for Africa resulted in several large countries characterised by highly heterogeneous geography and ethnically fragmented populations that limit the ability of governments to broadcast power and build state capacity.
