Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier  was a landmark decision enacted by the US Supreme Court in 1988 related to the applicability of the right of freedom of speech, granted by the First Amendment to the US Constitution, in curricular student newspapers in public schools. Lowers courts have sided unevenly with the students who sued claiming their right of freedom of speech and the school director who decided to remove two articles from the student's newspaper.

The US Supreme court ruled (and established the precedent for future cases) <u>that school authorities could exercise prior-restraint in school-sponsored channels of expression, provided that it was justified by pedagogical reasons. </u>Such student newspapers written in the schools are different from public forums for student expression where their constitutional right to freedom of speech should be guranteed with no limits.

Therefore,<u> </u><u>in the drama class described, and according to the ruling of the Supreme Court in the case detailed above</u>, the principal of the school has the right to cancel the show if he considers it to be inappropiate for the children of that age (this would serve as the required pedagogical justification) as it would be part of school-sponsored channel of expression.

How did Greek Myths help to end the "Greek Dark Age"?
Kazeer [188]

Answer:

The Greek myths helped to end the 'Greek Dark Age' by restoring the literacy that was lost in this era and creation of a new alphabet system.

Explanation:

The Greek Dark Age was a period in Greece when Greeks were ruled by Dorian. During those times, people lived scattered rather than in cities, thue making easy for Dorian to rule over them.

The term 'Dark Age' is used to describe an era about which little is known. Greek Dark Age was a period between 1100 BC to 800 BC during which people were nowhere near tto knowledge of arts or literature because people were mostly engaged in wars. Thus they did not have the time to write about anything.

By the end of 800 BC, the Mycenaean Linear B script was abandoned and new Greek Alphabet script was developed. This adoption of new alphabet system led to the recovery of literacy which was lost in the Greek Dark Ages. During these time new set of culture of Greek myths took place and led Greeks into a new era of Archaic Period.

What is the main difference between federal and confederal system of government?
valkas [14]
In a federation, the central government and the smaller states or municipalities work in agreement but are separate from one another. The powers of the central government and the states are typically enumerated in some type of document, such as a constitution. Conversely, a confederation is basically an alliance between states or nations that agree to work together toward common interests but still retain their individual powers of governance.<span>The United States utilizes a federal system. The federal government is granted specific powers by the U.S. Constitution, and any powers not granted to the federal government within the Constitution are granted to the states. The states retain some level of independence but are still subject to the governance of the federal government. However, if the United States operated as a confederation, the situation would be reversed. Each state would have the power to override federal power as it saw fit.</span>
