Why was there so much new government policy during this era in American history? Was it necessary?
grin007 [14]
There are many reasons for the government to step in and create policy after policy during the Great Depression. The Great Depression was essentially caused by people buying things with money they didn't have, which in turn made the economy tank and made TONS of people poor and unable to purchase basic necessities. So the government created a the New Deal, which is essentially a ton of programs that allowed younger teenagers to work to help supplement the family, but also to build new infrastructure for roads, highways, dams, etc.. Without the new deal, and all of those policies we would've been unprepared for the upcoming World War 2

Analyze the extent to which European exploration of the new world was driven by economic factors.
Iteru [2.4K]

The characterization of mercantilism as a "set of practices" demonstrates the absence of a preconceived plan for the economic policy of European countries that, between the 16th and 18th centuries, disputed slices of American territory to keep them in the condition of colonies. During this period, in Europe, the wealth available in the world was thought of as something that could not be expanded, and therefore the absolutist states strove to secure for themselves as much of this supposedly limited wealth as possible. Gold and silver, circulating in the form of coins or locked in the coffers of kings were understood as their translation, hence the true search fever of the so-called metals

How did a “Corrupt Bargain” increase Andrew Jackson’s determination to become president?
Andru [333]
