English
1 answer:
vlada-n [284]3 years ago
4 0

1: Subordinate

2: Subordinate

3: Main

4: Subordinate

5: Main

6: Subordinate

7: Main (I believe)

8: Main

9: Subordinate

10: Subordinate

The subordinate clauses cannot stand on their own: they leave a hanging question. The majority of them also start with a coordinating conjunction, and that's a common thing in subordinate clauses. The main clauses can stand by themselves, as it can be seen as a whole sentence.

Based on the word choice, the speaker's overall tone is angry. Encouraging. Mournful. Loving.
frutty [35]

The above question is incomplete.

Below is the complete passage that completes the question.

Read the passage from "Ode on a Grecian Urn."

Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard

Are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on;

Not to the sensual ear, but, more endear'd,

Pipe to the spirit ditties of no tone:

Fair youth, beneath the trees, thou canst not leave

Thy song, nor ever can those trees be bare;

Bold Lover, never, never canst thou kiss,

Though winning near the goal—yet, do not grieve;

She cannot fade, though thou hast not thy bliss,

For ever wilt thou love, and she be fair!

Based on the word choice, the speaker's overall tone is: encouraging.

From the given excerpt, we can see that the speaker's overall tone is encouraging.

This can be seen in the speaker's statement when the speaker said:

Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard

Are sweeter; therefore, ye soft pipes, play on

In other words, we can deduce that the speaker is encouraging soft pipes to play on despite being unheard. The speaker further encourages that their piping isn't to sensual ear but that they pipe to the spirit ditties.

Thus, the speaker's overall tone is encouraging.
