I haven't read Fahrenheit 451 in a very long time, but I do remember this part. I think a possible reason as to why the author does this is to start creating conflict and introduce the real turning point of the story, when we find out what the real problem is. Hope this helped.

Dear Mom,
I hope this letter will end all your worries regarding my stay away from home. Overall, I am fine but the food they server here is of poor quality, especially the lack of vegetable in my daily meals. I remember the good old days where I could eat fresh vegetables everyday when I was still staying in our hometown. But do not worry mom, I’m fine. I will try to eat my daily vegetables when I go outside the hostel to eat. I do exercises daily so you have no need to worry about my physique and please do not worry about me.

I rate Harry Potter the book series a big 5, reading it and feeling like you are in a world of wizarding and magical creatures is the best. It was very well written with all of the hidden plot secrets and more. It is a very fun and magical book!
