There was damage done to the United states's army but not that much in the actual territory, while belgium kept getting occupied by different countries non-stop.

The impact that the war had on the United States was very limited compared to how the war took place in Europe. European countries witnessed the war in their own territories, which meant that even civilians were deeply affected by it. Belgium was one of these affected countries. The nation was invaded by Germany in 1914, and it continued to resist militarily to the occupation of the territory until the armistice in 1918.
