Now i would say because they control lot of power. So more then likely it's the British were guilty. Now i may be wrong but that's my interpretation.

Americans recognized England's yearning for power and control through the form of colonization in other parts of the world. Americans in turn did not have as many trade opportunities and chances to gain power themselves.
