Simple math but I can't seem to understand it: x+y=2 becomes y=2-x, in order to find slope and y intercept y=mx+b The result bec

omes slope = -1, y intercept = 2. Though I'm not sure how to get these.

Answer:

\Large \boxed{{m=-1, \ b=2}}

Step-by-step explanation:

x + y = 2

We need the equation in the form y = mx + b.

m = slope

b = y-intercept

Solve for y by subtracting x from each side.

y = 2 - x

The -x can be written as -1x.

y = 2 - 1x

Rearrange the expression.

y = -1x + 2

The equation is in form y = mx + b.

The slope is -1.

The y-intercept is 2.

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

So we started off with the equation:

x+y=2

And we subtracted x from both sides to acquire:

y=2-x

Now, this is essentially slope-intercept form. Recall that the slope-intercept form is:

y=mx+b

Where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

If we rearrange our equation:

y=2-x\\y=-x+2

And put some parentheses:

y=(-1)x+(2)

We can see that this is indeed slope-intercept form.

And we can see that m is -1 and b is 2.

In other words, the slope is -1 and the y-intercept is 2.

Write a linear function that passes through (1,5) and (2,15)
Leokris [45]
Simple,

using \frac{y1-y2}{x1-x2} =m (slope)

find your slope...

\frac{5-15}{1-2} = \frac{-10}{-1}=10

thus, 10=m (slope)

Now, using y=mx+b to find your equation, plug in what you know...

Use any of the 2 coordinates.. (1,5)

5= 10(1)+b

5=10+b
-10 -10

-5=b

Thus, the equation to your line is...

y=10x-5.

Simplify the following expression (30/45g+20)-(8/9g+7)
den301095 [7]

The answer is: 13-\frac{2}{9}g

The explanation is shown below:

1- You have the following expression given in the exercise:

(\frac{30}{45}g+20)-(\frac{8}{9}g+7)

2- When you multiply signs, you obtain:

\frac{30}{45}g+20-\frac{8}{9}g-7

3. Now, you must add like terms, as following:

-\frac{2}{9}g+13

4. Therefore, you have that the expression simplified is:

13-\frac{2}{9}g
