A fable is a story, also passed down from generation to generation and it has a moral lesson to be learnt.
Fairy tales are stories written specially for children, often about magical characters.
For example “Elizabeth and Jonny were in the woods” normally when a setting is revealed it starts off by “in the” and the next few words are probably the setting. Setting usually comes in at the begging to let the reader know where the story takes place, hope this helps:)
