I am going to say: True
If you recall, an agrarian society is a society that relies on crops as their main source of income. The economy is based on crop production.
Before the Civil War, the south was considered an agrarian society, because all the south knew how to do is grow crops and export them. In the north, before and after the Civil War, their economy relied heavily on factories, which back then was a form of technology.
In this day and age, technology is vital to our economy. Farming in this age is typically small scale or commercial. With technology we are able to improve people's lives (medicine) and improve crop yield, which means you don't need as many farms now as you did back then.
Hopefully this helped and good luck.
