The flowing skirts! The sharp jackets! The lacy details! As the play began, I felt so proud. My friend Johan and I ________ all

the costumes for our school’s spring production. One day, I hoped to attend art school and work on musicals on Broadway. To see my creations worn in front of cheering New York City audiences was my dream! For tonight, though, the smiling faces in the North Shore High auditorium would certainly suffice!

The third choice, C. "Had designed" fits best in the blank.

Several words used in the paragraph show that the narrator is speaking on the past tense. For example, "As the play began, I felt so proud." The words began and felt show that this has already happened. A and B are a present tense form and do not fit the sentence. D is the future tense form and does not fit the sentence either.

ElenaW [278]

Answer:

Even though Bierce uses romantic techniques, the text has an ending with strong realist characteristics: "Peyton Farquhar was dead; his body, with a broken neck, swung gently from side to side beneath the timbers of the Owl Creek bridge." Although the majority of section 3 glorifies and paints an exhilarating picture of war with Peyton’s supposed escape, the reality is that war is gruesome and unforgiving. Bierce conveys this message with the story’s ending. The ending also demonstrates that in war, heroism doesn’t always triumph. PLATO ANSWER

WINSTONCH [101]

Plessy v. Ferguson, 163 US 537 (1896) was a landmark constitutional law case of the US Supreme Court decided in 1896. It upheld state racial segregation laws for public facilities under the doctrine of "separate but equal".[1] The decision was handed down by a vote of 7 to 1 with the majority opinion written by Justice Henry Billings Brown and the dissent written by Justice John Marshall Harlan.

"Separate but equal" remained standard doctrine in U.S. law until its repudiation in the 1954 Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education.[
