What is the Narrative hook for jack and the beanstalk?
natulia [17]

Answer:

Hi sorry I'm answering a little late but I believe the Narrative hook for jack and the beanstalk is the opening sentence or paragraph in the story.

Explanation:

In short, a narrative hook is something in the beginning of a story that grabs the reader's attention and makes them want to continue reading. This is the literary technique many authors use to capture the readers interest.

I'm not sure what the first sentence in jack and the beanstalk is, but I believe it would be the narrative hook.

Examples of narrative hooks include:

"A screaming comes across the sky."

"It began the usual way, in the bathroom of the Lassimo Hotel." and

"It was love at first sight."

Most narrative hooks are the first sentence, however, sometimes hooks can be the first paragraph or page as well.

There are also different kinds of hooks,  there are ones beginning with a question, there are hooks using descriptive words creating a picture in the readers mind, there are hooks that are statements, there are hooks that give a fact or statistic, there are hooks using a quotation, and there are hooks which have a metaphor or simile.

Hope this helped.

Correct the error of faulty parallelism in the following sentence.
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

The faulty parallelism is caused by the "he was" in the second clause in the sentence. The corrected version is: Jefferson was both the writer of the Declaration of Independence and the nation's third president.

Explanation:

A faulty parallelism results when a sentence or list is not structured so the grammar is parallel. This affects the flow and syntax of the sentence making it harder to understand or read.  This error is also known as a parallel structure error or a parallel construction error. For lists, you want to assure that each point begins with a noun, or each point begins with a verb and not a mixture of different parts of speech. You also do not want to mix gerunds with infinitives, for example, when listing your skills or qualities in a sentence on your CV.
