Explain why their are no solutions to the system of inequalities <br> y ≤2x-5 <br> y ≥2x+1
rosijanka [135]

Answer:

Sorry this is late and I think this is right.

They are both parallel, they have the same slope, and do <em>not </em>intersect. If you were to draw a slope out for it, you would find this to be true.

For example: Say the question called for you to explain why there aren't any solutions to these system of inequalities:

<em>y < - 1/2x -3</em>

<em>y > 1/2x + 2</em>

<em>y= -x/2 -3</em> and <em>y= -x/2 + 2 </em>have the same exact slope, are parallel, and never intersect. The first line is 5 units below the second line when x = 0. Because the lines are parallel, it is always below the second line. The solutions of y < - x/2 -3 are the points in the plane below the first line. The solutions of y > 1/2 + 2 are points above the second line.

I hope this helps you. Good luck on whatever you're working on and stay safe! Please let me know if this helped you or didn't.

When two computers are working together, they can finish updating software in 9 minutes. How long would they take individually t
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]
First computer takes x min. For 1 min it does 1/x part of work.

Second computer takes (x+24) min. For one min it does 1/(x+24) part of work.

Both computers for one min do   (1/x+1/(x+24)) part of work.

At the same time, both computers for one min do 1/9 part of work.

\frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{x+24} = \frac{1}{9} &#10;\\ \\  \frac{x+24+x}{x(x+24)} =  \frac{1}{9} &#10;\\ \\9(2x+24)=x^{2} +24x&#10;\\ \\ 18x+216=x^{2} +24x&#10;\\ \\ x^{2}+6x-216=0&#10;\\ \\ D=b^{2}-4ac=36+4*216 = 900&#10;\\ \\ x= \frac{-b+/- \sqrt{D} }{2a}  =  \frac{-6+/-30}{2} &#10;\\ \\ x_{1}=-18, x_{2}=12&#10;&#10;We can use only positive number here. So, &#10;&#10;for the first computer x=12 min,&#10;&#10; for second computer x+24=12+24= 36 min&#10;&#10;Answer 12 min and 36 min.

Danny has a rectangular rose garden that measures 8m by 12.5m. One bag of fertilizer can cover 16m2 . How many bags will he need
mrs_skeptik [129]

Answer:

we will need 7 bags

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this problem we first have to calculate the total area of the garden

a = area

b = base = 8m

h = height = 12.5m

a = b * h

we replace with the known values

a = 8m * 12.5m

a = 100m²

Now that we know the total area of the garden and the area occupied by a single bag, we divide the total area by what a bag covers.

100m² / 16m² = 6.25 bags

because we cannot buy a fraction of a bag we will need 7 bags
