Write a paragraph that explains why Kansas looked like the promised land of African Americans

History
1 answer:
Ganezh [65]3 years ago
7 0
With the promise of freedom and new economic and educational opportunities, Kansas attracted many African Americans in its territorial days, through statehood, and into the 20th century. Slavery existed in the Kansas Territory, but slave holdings were small compared to the South. Many black migrants also came to the territory as hired laborers, while some traveled as escaped slaves through the Underground Railroad. In the 1860s, others joined the Union Army, and some moved from the South in large groups during the Kansas Exodus, a mass migration of freedpeople during the 1870s and 1880s. As a territory that had a long and violent history of pre-Civil War contests over slavery, Kansas emerged as the “quintessential free state” and seemed like a promised land for African Americans who searched for what they called a “New Canaan.”

A transform boundary occurs where plates side against each other
true
false
Akimi4 [234]

The correct answer is - True.

The transform plate boundaries are the boundaries where the tectonic plates are not moving away, or moving towards one another, but instead they are sliding past each other.

At this type of boundaries, a fracture zone is forming, which causes the formation of a transform faults. Most of the transform faults can be found in the ocean basins and they are connecting the offsets of the mid-ocean ridges.

As the plates slide past one another, the boundary between them exist no more as their movement has set them apart from each other. The transform boundary than can continue as a new transform boundary, as a divergent plate boundary, or as subduction zone.
