Which responsibilities were assigned to the central government under the Articles of Confederation?

History

Under the Articles of Confederation, the central government could:

1) Declare war on another country.

2) Raise an army.

3) Develop treaties with other countries.

4) Can allow new states to join the US with a 9/13 vote.

Besides the aforementioned responsibilities, the central government was very limited in what actions they can take. State governments could actually ignore the laws made by the central government if they felt they were unjust. This is one of the main reasons why the Articles of Confederation only lasts for about a decade in America.

Drawing up treaties, declare war, mobilize troops, allowing new countries to join the US were responsibilities assigned to the central government in the Articles of Confederation. The Perpetual Union and The Articles of Confederation were the first on the paper constitution of the United States.

EXPLANATION

The Articles of Confederation was the United States’ agreement between all the thirteen original states. The Articles of Confederation is the first constitution for the United States. The Articles of Confederation was finally approved after a lot of debate between July 1776 and November 1777. Then, it was approved on November 15, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress. After being approved, it was sent to the states for ratification.

On March 1, 1781, the Articles of Confederation came into force, because it finally has been ratified by all the 13 states in the United States. The Articles of Confederation was made to preserve the independence and sovereignty of the states in the US.

The Articles of Confederation help the states to have “friendship” with clearly written rules. The Congress will look at the Articles of Confederation for leading the war effort, guidance as it conducted business, addressing territorial issues, dealing with Native American relations, and directing diplomacy with foreign nations.

As the Confederation Congress attempted to grow the American states, but there was found to be limitations for the central government to do the same thing. The central government’s weakness became apparent, and it was time for the Articles of Confederation to be changed entirely. The new Constitution of the US gives the central government more strong power.

kirill [66]

Guido's death in the film corresponds to a powerful scene, as it shows him keeping the game character he had invented with his son until he was taken by a soldier to be killed.

This is a 1997 Italian film starring Roberto Begnini as Guido, who during the Second World War is captured and forced to go to a concentration camp.
