Analyze the key characteristics of the following quadratic function. f(x)=x2‒9 Based on the graph, which statement is not true?
kirza4 [7]

Answer:

C. The graph is always positive.

Explanation:

To solve this, it is basically a process of elimination. A is true since the -9 indicates the function was translated down 9 units, making the vertex lie on the y-axis. B is also true because if you look at the equation from 0 to infinity, the y-values increase. D is also correct because when you solve for the zeros, they do end up being 3 and -3, making the only claim that is not true C, the graph is always positive.

The half-life of carbon-14 is about 5700 years. If you left those 100 carbon-14 atoms to sit around for 5700 years, how many wou
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

50 atoms have decayed during that time

Explanation:

The radioactive decay is represented as

N = N_0 * \frac{1}{2}^X\\

Where N is the amount of radioactive element after a certain time period

N0 is the amount of radioactive element during the initial time period

X is the half life of the radioactive element

Substituting the given  values in above equation,  we get:

N = 100 * \frac{1}{2}^1\\N = 50atoms

So, 50 atoms of carbon-14 remain are left after decaying for 5700 years.

Hence,  atoms of carbon-14 that decay during 5700 years are 100-50 - 50

APHG Question-
Makovka662 [10]

Answer: Look at the explanation.

Explanation: An environmental consequence could be our land. The more land we use for agriculture results in loss of biodiversity. Slash-and-burn kills many trees and plant life. These trees are home to many small animals and now they are homeless and will die unless they adapt and find a new land. A social consequence could be food deserts. Food deserts are caused by and increase poverty and starvation. Nonexistent stores in rural areas do not help the population. People starve and barely have another way of getting healthy food. They rely on fast food chains which do not help with health.
