Sumerians are said to have invented the wheel and the plow. The wheel was extremely helpful in trade as it was used to carry heavy loads long distances, and was also used for chariots in battle. The plow was a crucial development for agriculture as it allowed the Sumerians to provide their cities with a stable food supply.
