What message about family relationships does Marcela Fuentes convey in “The Walking Dance”? Specify one message and be prepared
stealth61 [152]

Fuentes shows that building family relationships can be difficult, but it can be created when we least expect it.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • “The Walking Dance” shows how Gavin tries to reach out and form family bonds with his wife's relatives.
  • He feels he can't create these connections, mainly because his wife's family has very different customs.
  • He sees the opportunity to create these family connections at a funeral, but his attempts fail because he can't fit in.

However, by the end of the story, Gavin realizes that these family connections must come naturally and at the moment we least expect it.
