Foreshadowing is a writers (screen writers or authors) way of revealing an event that will take place in the future. Usually writers just give you snippets of what is going to happen. By doing that it helps make a story more exciting and creates an are of suspension. Hopefully I helped.

Without the next half of the sentence, the clause left alone wouldn't make any sense. The other clause is independent, meaning that it still makes sense when it stands without the dependent clause.
