He behaved as the perfect Confucianist because he never complained.  Emperor Wen was a visionary individual and possessed definite integrity of character. he never succumbed to the evils of sensory pleasures. it was the teachings of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism which molded him to be an ideal emperor who worked and introduced reforms for the benefit of the commoners.
