Answer:

Number of pens and pencils sold are 490 and 510 respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let, number of pens = x and the number of pencils = y.

It is given that,

Cost of one pen = 10 cents = 0.1 dollar

Cost of one pencil = 5 cents = 0.05 dollar

As, the total number of writing utensils sold are 100. So, we have,

x+y=1000

Also, the total sales is $74.50 gives,

0.1x+0.05y=74.50

Thus, the system of equations is,

x + y = 1000 .................................... (1)

0.1x + 0.05y = 74.50 .....................(2)

Multiply (1) by 0.1 and subtract both the equations, we get,

0.05y = 25.5 i.e. y= 510

So, x= 1000- 510 i.e. x= 490.

So, the number of pens and pencils sold are 490 and 510 respectively.

Answer:

A= 40°

B= 35°

C= 15°

Step-by-step explanation:

Since it says if the triangles were accurately drawn, then A would be the same  degree as Q. C would be the same degree as P. B would be the same degree as R. Since R's degree is missing I knew that a obtuse triangle was 90°. I added 40+15 and got 55. Then i subtracted 90-55 and got 35. So the unknown value would be 35°.

I hope this helps.

In ΔNOP, the measure of ∠P=90°, the measure of ∠O=17°, and OP = 8.6 feet. Find the length of PN to the nearest tenth of a foot.
SVEN [57.7K]

The length of PN is 2.63 feet

<u>Explanation:</u>

<u />

Given:

∠P=90°,

∠O=17°,

OP = 8.6 feet

PN = ?

The given triangle is a right angle triangle as one angle is 90°

We know:

tan \alpha = \frac{perpendicular}{base}

tan(17^o) = \frac{PN}{OP} \\\\0.3057 = \frac{PN}{8.6} \\\\PN = 0.3057 X 8.6 feet\\\\PN = 2.63 feet

Therefore, the length of PN is 2.63 feet
