China was politically united and had a good agriculture base before the advent of foreigners. The influence of powerful western nations was ruining the Chinese economy. The Chinese resentment grew not only against the foreigners but also against the Manchu dynasty as they were held responsible for it. In 1912 the republic of china was formed by the nationalist to end the rule of 4000-year-old dynastic rule.
