1) The Battle of Gettysburg which led to a large number of Confederate deaths and marked the farthest point north southern armies reached.

2) The Siege of Vicksburg which secured the Union control of the Mississippi and bisected the Confederacy into two.

3) Sherman's March to the Sea destroyed everything in the path of Shermans advancing field army and destroyed Georgia utterly.
