Describe the pervasive nature of "Jim Crow" laws. How was the system enforced, formally and informally?
Pachacha [2.7K]
Jim Crow laws were laws that led to the systematic segregation and oppression of African Americans in the United States between 1876 and 1965. Jim Crow laws were a series of laws that were created and enforced at the state and local level to segregate and oppress African Americans from receiving access to state resources and institutions like education and others. The system was formally enforced by the police and by the courts. For example African Americans could be disallowed from entering restaurants or were forced to use specific water fountains or could not enter certain schools. The police in the South generally where the laws existed would enforce these laws brutally at times as well as the courts.

The U.S. Constitution established a federal government based upon certain democratic ideals. Which one of these ideals was James
Sedaia [141]
A)
Federalist Paper #51 is titled “The Structure of the Government Must Furnish the Proper Checks and Balances Between the Different Departments”. Madison published it on February 8th, 1788, addressing the need for a system of checks and balances and separation of powers in the federal government. The Founders knew that a federal government was necessary to a country’s survival and stability, even if they didn’t all agree on it. These separation of powers and checks and balances ensured that the government would not become too powerful like the monarchy of Great Britain had.

In what direction did the ancient people travel when they crossed the land bridge
scoray [572]
The ancient people were moving west.

The bridge that you are referring to was called the Bering land bridge which is now the Bering Strait. During the Ice age, though this area was covered in ice which made the sea levels drop and emerged the land bridge, the land bridge was covered with grasses and low shrubs which provided food for the mammoth, horses, caribou, and bison. It is believed that the ancient people followed these grazing animals from beringia (which is now SIberia) and into America, they are believed to be the first inhabitants of America. Over time the weather got warmer and the glaciers started melting and the bridge started disappearing into what we now call the Bering strait this all happened about 11,600 years ago

in june 1948, when the united states, britain, and france introduced a separate currency in their zones of control in the city o
Zarrin [17]

The appropriate choice is option (b). The berlin blockade was the Soviet Union's response to the introduction of a separate currency by the United States, Great Britain, and France in June 1948 in the city of Berlin.

To what did the Berlin Blockade react?

The Soviet Union blocked all rail, road, and canal access to the western zones of Berlin out of concern over the new American policy of providing economic aid to Germany and other economically struggling European countries, as well as the Western Allies' efforts to impose a single currency in the zones they occupied in Germany and Berlin.

Who started the 1948 Berlin Blockade and why?

Stalin wanted to keep it that way, fearing that a strong Germany may constitute a threat to the Soviet Union. The Western Allies, in contrast to their viewpoint, were pressing Germany to rebuild in the Western regions. Stalin was enraged by this and decided to expel the Allies from Berlin.
