Treaty of Ryswick in 1697 was between France, England, and the Dutch republic. Troops were sent to the Dominican Republic in an attempt to overthrow the Trujillista Dictatorship (Communist dictatorship). The Dominican Republic did have a Civil war which was in 1965 which was a result of the presence of the American militia. But the Dominican Republic did gain independence from two countries, first was from Spain when the criollo class overthrew the crown, Then, in 2/27/1844 from Haiti after  22 years of dictatorship. Meanwhile USA only gained from England in 1776.
