Hi, Until 1954 juries were composed only by white men.  During the nineteenth century women were allowed to vote but not to serve on jury. They were excluded from the service, along with black people.

During the 1950s, a campaign got under way to amend the state Constitution to allow women to serve on juries. The amendment passed in 1954.
