Does My Head Look Big in This? and Persepolis. Excerpt from Does My Head Look Big in This?: My best friends, Leila Okulgen and Y

asmeen Khan, moved on to a public high school close to Coburg, where they live. I begged my parents to let me go with them but Mom and Dad insisted that I go to a private school. I tried everything. At first I sucked up to them big time, making them coffee after dinner, offering to set the table before Mom had a chance to ask me, letting them watch PBS documentaries when I wanted to watch Big Brother. That didn’t work. So I turned political, ranting about them perpetuating the snobby bourgeoisie power trip of our educational system which forges aristocratic divisions between social classes (I got that from a PBS documentary). Talk about having no compassion or social conscience. They just laughed at me and gave me a pile of literature about the school. Excerpt from Persepolis: A page titled The Letter from the graphic novel Persepolis. Which statement is true about the narrators’ different perspectives? Amal is worried about how the political situation will affect her education, while Marjane is concerned with helping people who are suffering. Amal is concerned about the suffering of people around her, while Marjane is concerned only with her own suffering. Amal and Marjane are both dedicated to learning about the political landscape and using their knowledge to help others. Amal and Marjane are both interested in taking what they have learned about politics and social class and applying it to their own situation.

Answer:

D). Amal and Marjane are both interested in taking what they have learned about politics and social class and applying it to their own situation.

Explanation:

The last statement asserts a true claim regarding the different perspectives adopted by the narrator. Amal and Marjane, both were interested in going with their friends but their parents denied despite a warm request. So, they both applied their knowledge('what they learned about politics as well as social class') to their situation in order to convince them.

Firstly, they tried to convince them socially(making them coffee after dinner, offering to set the table, letting them watch PBS documentaries, etc.) but when it failed to persuade them. They both turned to the political way by critiquing them about their 'snobby bourgeoisie power, lack of compassion, and conscience' in order to persuade them. Thus, this reflects the distinction in perspectives and hence, option D is the correct answer.

Describe an old person

Body:

Delila Thomas was your average OAP. She hovered around in her not-so-speedy mobility scooter whilst brushing her white as snow hairs. Her face was covered in scars of age, those wrinkles that seems to spare no one. When the song 'Shine' blasted from her battery operated car, I couldn't help but think, "are we in California 1956 or 2022? She was the hippie in her youth but that was now far gone. Just papers, crochet and board games. And struggling with 'this new whizzy tech' too.

The memories Jonas receives makes him feel conflict in confused because
love history [14]
Jonas, from the Giver, lived in a sheltered world, where they did not know their true history. He was taught about how good his world is, and never taught that there was ever anything other than his world. He did not know color, or that there were other towns. So, of course, he felt conflicted when he found out that things hadn't always been this way.
