Over 10% of the children in Ms. Lemley's fourth grade class are from homes of extreme poverty. What is the most likely effect of
liq [111]

Answer:

These children will likely lag three years behind children from wealthier families by the time they reach grade six.

Explanation:

Poverty is a negative factor when talking about a child's readiness for school. This is because it is capable of leading to poor motor skills and physical health of the child and also reduces the ability of the child to concentrate and retain information. Poverty can also reduce the curiosity, attention to education, and motivation of a child. Children from poor families lag in cognitive development and hence are likely to be three years behind those from wealthier families at grade six.

What provide an opening for air to enter the nasal cavity?
pychu [463]

Nares provide an opening for air to enter the nasal cavity.

Air enters the nasal cavity from the outside through two openings: the nostrils or external nares. The openings from the nasal cavity into the pharynx are the internal nares.

The nasal cavity and mouth join at the area in the back of the throat called the oropharynx  . The pharynx is part of two body systems (the respiratory system and the digestive system) because it carries both air and food.

At the bottom   the pharynx is divided in to two pipes-  one for air and one for food. One pipe, the larynx, is for air only. It’s also called the voice box because it contains a pair of vocal cords that vibrate to make sounds when you talk.

A small flap of tissue called the epiglottis protects the larynx. When we swallow, the epiglottis covers the larynx to prevent food and liquid from going into the lungs.

The trachea (windpipe) is the part of the airway that continues below the larynx .

The carina is at the bottom of the trachea and is the point at which the trachea divides into the left and right main bronchus leading to the lungs.
