This question is incomplete. Here is the complete question:

1. Which sentence would be the better thesis statement for the introductory paragraph of an essay?

A. The Hunger Games is a science fiction adventure film based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins.

B. The Hunger Games is a morality tale about the dangers of a political system that is dominated by the wealthy.

Answer:

The correct answer is option B. The Hunger Games is a morality tale about the dangers of a political system that is dominated by the wealthy.

Explanation:

The thesis statement is a specific statement that expresses a position on the subject of the text and that answers the question that you, as the author, work on your writing. In other words, it is the position that is defended through arguments to persuade or convince the reader.

In this case we have option B that describes what The Hunger Games are about. As we know, the Hunger Games shows how a society dominated by the rich can be chaotic, unequal and with low morals by encouraging poor people to kill each other for a better life.

Which underlined words form a dependent clause?
pickupchik [31]
There is only one sentence among these that contains a dependent clause, and that is the third option - Although the rain poured down, the Eagles and Panthers continued their soccer game.
The remaining sentences are all simple, meaning they contain only one independent clause (except for sentence 2, which is compound, meaning it has 2 independent clauses).

How do we judge the quality of musical works and performances?
kirill [66]
We judge the quality of music works and performances by averting our attention to the sounds instruments make. The dramatic facial expressions actors/actresses portray on their face. The technique musicians use while playing their instrument. The way the costumes are designed in a performance. If the guest speaker in a performance stuttered or forgot a pat of their speech. If a composer’s sheet music dropped in the middle of composing a recital/performance/play. To sum it up, we pay attention to the little details in the things we see/witness, which makes us quick to judge.

Hope that helps!
