Roosevelt was a strong supporter of the conservationism. He established the National Parks of the United States. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the natural environment. He recommended William Howard Taft however when he sold national park land to coal and oil companies president Roosevelt was outraged and eventually ran against him for president and beat him though he ultimately lost to Woodrow Wilson due to the splitting of the republican party
