A tragic hero is the central character of the narrative. He is the protagonist of the story around whom the story progresses. A tragic hero is a character who falls into the well of destruction because of the error in judgment of his life. He undergoes a reversal of fortune in his life. In his journey, he explores many things which he is unaware of. His life and the tragic incidence which arrives in his life makes the audience feel pity for him.
This makes Hamlet a tragic hero. Tragic heroes are those people who used to have it all, but due to particular circumstances (or sometimes even their own fault), they lose it all, and usually die at the end of the play. This is what happened to Hamlet - while his father was alive, he was a prince who lacked for nothing. However, when the King got murdered, it went spiraling down for Hamlet.<span />
